Monthly Meetings
Monthly meetings are held from October through April. Parents and their children attend the Sunday meetings together. These meetings are held the first or second Sunday of the month, in the community center from 8:30-9:30 AM.
If the Sunday meeting cannot be attended, parents have the option to attend a parents only meeting on a Thursday evening. These meetings will be scheduled on request and mostly occur the Thursday after the Sunday meeting from 6:00- 7:00 PM.
Homework
The parents and the child will have six small booklets to complete at home for each of the sacraments. These materials focus specifically on the meaning of the sacraments and on what the child needs to know before receiving them. In addition to the booklets, each child will be given a workbook that focuses on the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Mass Instruction
It is essential that children preparing for First Communion attend mass regularly. Once each month, the mass attended will be followed up by guided instruction and reflection similar to the monthly meetings. This will occur the second Sunday of the month, from November through April.
Retreats
In addition to the monthly family meetings and mass instruction, the child and at least one parent must attend a retreat for each of the sacraments. The retreats are held on a Saturday morning from 9:00-11:30.
