The buildings are not constructed for their own sake; rather they are tools to create the safe and sacred space where real transformation of human lives can take place. Just as what happens within ourselves as we pray and celebrate sacraments in our churches is far more important than our mere bodily presence, so it is with our churches themselves. It is not merely the building, although beautiful architecture is itself a powerful prayer of praise, Of greatest importance is our willingness to move closer to one another and to God as fostered in our liturgies and community life.
